Come one, come all to our 40th Annual Waterford Canal Festival and ride your bicycle in the Champlain Canalway Trail Family Bicycle Celebration!

This ride is 12-miles round-trip, starting at Lock 2 and ending at Upper Newtown Road in Halfmoon before the return journey. We will stop along the way for historical insight and water breaks. This is not a race, so you’re encouraged to cycle at your own pace and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Champlain Canalway Trail.

The ride will be a guided tour along the route with your guide available to answer any questions you may have about the Champlain Canalway. If any questions you have cannot be answered on site, we are in direct contact with our local historian for your informational pleasure.

For the safety and enjoyment of all, participants are required to bring their own bicycle, helmet and water bottles to stay hydrated along the way. Please ensure your bicycle is in good working condition prior to the event. This ride is suitable for all ages and cycling abilities, as the terrain is relatively flat and consists of asphalt and stone dust.

The ride starts at Erie Canal Lock 2 parking lot, travels along the Champlain Canalway Trail, with the mid-way point at Upper Newtown Road, Halfmoon, before returning back on the same trail. (6 miles out; 6 miles back)

Safety is our top priority. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants are required to wear helmets for the duration of the ride.

NOTE * Insurance indemnification/hold harmless waivers signed by an adult over the age of 18 will be required.
